Seurasaari Open-Air Museum

Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, which opened in 1909, is a place for visitors of all ages. When you arrive on the island, you are immediately transported to a rural landscape from the olden days, far away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The Seurasaari Open-Air Museum's 89 museum buildings have been relocated from different parts of Finland. The oldest log buildings date back to the late 17th century. Inside the houses, visitors can experience everyday life in the 19th and 20th centuries, and occasionally moments of celebration as well.

Accessibility in the museum

The museum buildings and courtyards of the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum have been preserved as close to their original condition as possible. As a result, accessibility varies significantly between the buildings. Most courtyard areas are easily accessible by wheelchair, but high thresholds, stairs, and the dim interiors of some buildings may present challenges. For visitors using manual wheelchairs, we recommend bringing a personal assistant to help ensure smooth movement around the museum area. Personal assistants are admitted free of charge.
