Meeting rooms and venues

The Maritime Centre’s auditorium, majestic boat hall and versatile restaurant and meeting spaces are ideal for hosting a wide variety of meetings, celebrations, and other events.

We are easy to get to. The E18 highway speeds up your journey from both the west and the east, and the parking lot offers plenty of free parking for both cars and buses. Nearest train stop is only 400 meters away, and the bus station is 1.5 kilometers away.

Combine your event with a visit to the exhibition. Even a brief stop to explore history adds a refreshing change of pace to your conference day. Free admission to all of Vellamo’s exhibitions is included in the venue rental fees for the auditorium (at least half-day rentals) and for the classrooms (four-hour rentals or longer).

Auditorium Ilmari

The auditorium features 166 fixed seats in rising rows. With extra chairs, the number of seats can be increased to 213. The auditorium is perfect for seminars and meetings, but it is also an excellent venue for concerts or film viewings. Ilmari’s easy-to-use technology and good sound projection guarantee successful events.

Add a museum visit? When you book the auditorium for a full or a half day, you get free entry to all exhibitions in Vellamo.

Did you know? The auditorium was named after Ilmari Lahdelma, the architect who designed Maritime Centre Vellamo.

Classrooms Ahti ja Kaija

The two 32-seat meeting rooms, Ahti and Kaija, can also be combined into one large hall by opening the dividing wall. Thanks to their versatility, these spacious and modern meeting rooms are well suited to meetings, training sessions, group work or as exhibition spaces.

Did you know? In Finnish folk mythology, Ahti is the god of the sea. He is the consort of Vellamo, the goddess of water, lakes and seas. Kaija means pier in Finnish nautical slang.

Commandant’s Chamber

The Commandant’s Chamber is an important part of the Fateful Svensksund exhibition. In the middle of the Commandant’s Chamber, there is a solid oak table surrounded by 15 modern, ergonomic design chairs. The meeting guests have access to Wi-Fi, a laptop and a 65″ screen. Villeroy & Boch’s Old Luxembourg tableware, crystal drinking glasses and cutlery add a festive touch to the table setting.

Prices

  • Example, reservation for 3 hours: room rental €159.36 (€200 incl. VAT)  +  € 24.70/person (€31 incl. VAT)
  • The price includes coffee for the selected number of participants and the museum experience.
  • Minimum billing for six persons.
  • The Commandant’s Chamber is available from 10am until 4pm.
  • All rents include VAT at 25,5%.

The rent of the room, located directly in the exhibition space, includes admission to Vellamo’s exhibitions.

Did you know? The Commandant’s Chamber is named after Jean Baptiste Prevost de Sansac, marquis de Traversay. The marquis was the commander of the Svensksund fortress and military port.
