Historical research is based on sources. Sources can be letters, photographs, archaeological finds, biological samples or objects. The National Museum of Finland has over half a million objects in its collections. The assignment is aimed at primary and secondary schools.

Examine an object
You are a historian who focuses on objects. On your desk is one of the objects from the collections.
- Select one of the 3D-modeled objects from the collections.
- View more detailed information about the object and open the 3D model.
- Draw the object.
- Examine the object, read the description and conclude what it was used for, what material it was made of, who made it.
- Think about what the object can tell us about the era and culture.
