The National Museum is closed until spring 2027 for renovation and additional construction. The museum’s three permanent exhibitions can be explored virtually.
On the virtual tour, you can admire exhibition halls and objects that tell the story of our past and life in the area we now know as Finland. The gems of the National Museum’s collections on display in the exhibition can be explored through short and informative videos.
The virtual tour can be experienced using a web browser, mobile device and VR glasses.

The ceiling paintings in the ballroom are a great rarity from the 17th century. The artist of the ceiling paintings, Jochim Langh, had moved from Germany to Sweden in the mid-17th century, where he worked as a decorative painter for several noblemen. Langh worked for Herman Fleming, the builder of Louhisaari, at the Admiralty in Stockholm, before moving to Louhisaari around 1660.
