Opened as a museum in 1987, Tamminiemi Villa was the official residence of Presidents Ryti, Mannerheim and Kekkonen and the stage of many political negotiations and resolutions. However, Tamminiemi is best known for the 25-year presidency of Urho Kekkonen, during which time the name of Tamminiemi became a concept in its own right in Finnish political life and vocabulary. today, visitors can experience the villa just as it was in the 1970s, when the presidential couple still lived there.

Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, which opened in 1909, is a place for visitors of all ages. When you arrive on the island, you are immediately transported to a rural landscape from the olden days, far away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The Seurasaari Open-Air Museum’s 89 museum buildings have been relocated from different parts of Finland. The oldest log buildings date back to the late 17th century. Inside the houses, visitors can experience everyday life in the 19th and 20th centuries, and occasionally moments of celebration as well. The museum is open during the summer season until 15 September.
