Is Finnish culture and history close to your heart? Cultural heritage is our shared legacy – our roots. The National Museum of Finland offers you or your community the opportunity to do something unique and meaningful to help preserve Finnish history and cultural heritage.

Supporting cultural heritage

As a Cultural Patron, you can support the conservation of objects in the collections of the National Museum of Finland or the acquisition of new objects for the collections. We are also happy to discuss other areas you could support. Cultural Patronage is support with agreed benefits.

Both individuals and communities can become Cultural Patrons. A Patron can support several patronage projects. For companies, we have developed a separate corporate partnership programme with agreed benefits.

Object conservation as a patronage project

The collections of the National Museum of Finland comprise more than 500,000 objects. Among them, cultural treasures are selected for exhibitions at the museums and castles of the National Museum of Finland and at other museums in Finland and around the world. In most cases, these objects need to undergo conservation before they can be put on display.

The cost of conserving a collection object before it can be exhibited ranges from approximately €1,500–2,000 to several tens of thousands of euros, depending on the object’s size, material and condition. As a Cultural Patron, you can choose a patronage project that is right for you or your community.

As a Cultural Patron, you receive

the opportunity to make a concrete contribution to preserving cultural heritage by enabling the conservation of a collection object
the opportunity to participate in selecting the object you support
a special connection to an object in the National Museum of Finland’s collections that you have helped preserve
the experience and joy of helping bring cultural heritage to audiences and preserve it for future generations
positive visibility as a supporter of cultural heritage, or alternatively, the option to remain completely anonymous
the opportunity to follow the conservation work on site
invitations to exhibition openings at the museums and castles of the National Museum of Finland
other benefits agreed separately, depending on the value of your support
