Organization

The National Museum of Finland operates within the Finnish Heritage Agency, which is an agency under the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Director General of the National Museum of Finland, which functions as a department of the Finnish Heritage Agency, is appointed by the Minister of Science and Culture.

The organization of the National Museum of Finland

The National Museum of Finland is headed by the Director General. In addition to the Director of Museum Services and the Director of Communications, the management is supported by a group consisting of the heads of the museum’s units. Administrative and facilities services, as well as communications and marketing, are provided by the Finnish Heritage Agency.

The National Museum of Finland’s main site is the National Museum in Helsinki. In addition, we operate at nine other museum sites across Finland and at the Collections and Conservation Centre in Vantaa. The National Museum of Finland employs approximately 90 people, and around 100 seasonal employees are recruited for the ten museum sites during the summer season.
