The National Museum of Finland has made two repatriations that have received international attention in recent years. In 2020, the National Museum of Finland returned grave finds and artifacts from graves to representatives of Native American peoples in Mesa Verde, Colorado. The Escape from Pompeii exhibition was created as an Italian collaboration with the National Museum of Finland. The exhibition features artifacts from the excavations of Pompeii. Pompeii was once a Roman city that was buried underground in 79 AD when Mount Vesuvius erupted. What was life like in Pompeii before the destruction? What do the human statues that have been found tell us? The guest of the program is Doctor of Philosophy Minerva Keltanen from the National Museum of Finland.
