From the early 1760s until the renovation work in 1792, this room was connected to the adjacent room, creating a sleeping alcove. The painted decoration on the vaulted ceiling, rebuilt in 1792, imitates a thin, white, pleated curtain fabric. The tiled stove dates from the late 19th century. The room is named after Count Carl Mannerheim’s wife, Eva Vilhelmina, née von Schantz (1810–1895), who lived in the room during the last decades of her life.
In her memoirs, Eva Mannerheim-Sparre describes how her grandmother managed the castle’s affairs from her room and taught the children manners and the English language. From the 1830s onward, the room served as the bedroom of Vendla Sofia Mannerheim. The Biedermeier-style furniture originates from Louhisaari.
